Angela Thomas is a woman in desperate pursuit of God. Drawn to spiritual disciplines by her life circumstances, she inspires listeners to live amazing lives through knowing Him intimately. Angela’s testimony includes her personal stories of raising four children without a husband, paycheck or home of her own. She has written more than ten books for women and speaks to more than 25,000 women of all ages each year.
After graduation from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, Angela began a position as a part-time youth director. Serving her small Methodist church, she discovered her unquenchable passion for teaching God’s Word. She craved ways to learn more about the Bible and to become a better teacher. After finishing her Master’s degree at Dallas Theological Seminary, Angela began leading a ministry to high-school girls. She also married and had four children.
She seemed to be living a dream-life, but Angela admits she was really only pretending, becoming what she calls “a church lady.” Then something happened that she thought never would—her marriage ended in divorce. She calls it a dark time of asking the hard questions of God: “Did He still love her? Could He use her in ministry?” But God knew even before she did that this was not the end Angela Thomas’ story—it would just begin a new chapter. “One of the best things I take into my future is my brokenness,” Angela says. “You learn how to love people when you’re broken.”
In her book Do You Think I’m Beautiful, Angela speaks to women who remain content to watch from the edge of the dance floor, never confident enough to step on it themselves. But our Prince, the One who finds us breathtakingly beautiful, has something different in mind. Angela’s story ministers deeply to “supermoms” and “wallflowers” alike, showing them their God-given beauty and teaching them to not just walk through life, but dance.
"Having Angela Thomas at our church created an event that was even bigger and better than we had imagined! Angela's giftedness as a speaker, her caring spirit and fun-loving personality were a blessing to countless girls and women who attended our event." - Women's Conference Coordinator, Calvary Community Church
"Angela touched many hearts of the ladies at Calvary Baptist Church. When I study the women of the Bible, I look at their characteristics of strength, courage, compassion, encouragement, and endurance, as well as their physical beauty. Angela encompasses all of these characteristics and her presentation almost leaves you breathless because she is able to bring out in words exactly what you feel in your heart. I would recommend her wholeheartedly for any women's ministry function." - Women's Ministry Director, Calvary Baptist Church
"We thoroughly enjoyed Angela Thomas at our Ladies Night Out. Women definitely relate to Angela's testimony of her "ordinary" life. Angela mixed the humor well with her message to give your whole life over and "dance with God." We had 15 total decisions at our event with 4 being salvations. I look forward to hearing Angela again." - Women's Ministry Director, Maysville Baptist Church
Best-selling author and popular speaker Angela Thomas inspires single moms to rise above their circumstances and live strong, amazing lives, sharing her stories about raising four children without a husband, paycheck or home of her own.
Thomas was living a seemingly perfect life as minister, wife and mother when her marriage ended and she entered the uncharted waters of single motherhood. She struggled with the transition from church wife to single mom of four in her mind; she could no longer be “super mom” or a leader in the Christian community without a man by her side. But thanks to the love and help of her friends and family, Thomas realized she was mistaken.
Through the challenges that accompany single motherhood, Thomas learned how to draw on her inner strength and become closer in her relationship with God. In her new book, My Single Mom Life: Stories & Practical Lessons for Your Journe (Thomas Nelson, May 200), Thomas recounts her journey from embarrassed ex-wife to tenacious, empowered single mom. She provides lessons learned from raising children without close spousal support and guidance to single moms feeling helpless.
Thomas graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She went on to serve as part-time director in her small Methodist church where she discovered her true calling as a speaker and minister to women. She received her master’s degree at Dallas Theological Seminary and pursued a life of ministry which quickly turned into writing and speaking about the roles of Christian women.
Thomas has written over 10 books for women and reaches over 25,000 women of all ages each year through her seminars. Her life and career has been chronicled in ParentLife Magazine, Christian Single, Today’s Christian Women, HomeLife, Living With Teenagers, and many other local and regional publications.
She has also appeared on Faith Café, 100 Huntley Street, and The Harvest Show. This year Thomas will attend over 40 women’s events across the country to discuss her transition into single motherhood and to inspire other women facing similar trials.
Today she lives in Knoxville, Tenn., with her four children and enjoys reading, staying active and traveling. Her children are her main priority and she dedicates much of her time to watching their various sports and activities.
