Marc Mero’s greatest passion in life is leading people to Christ. A former WCW and WWE Wrestling Champion, God had a larger purpose for Marc outside the ring. For 14 years, he traveled worldwide as “Johnny B. Badd,” “Wildman” Marc Mero, and “Marvelous” Marc Mero. Ultimately, God took Marc from the Death List to the Book of Life – turning Marc’s “mess” into his life-changing message.
Marc’s compelling testimony inspires others to examine their own life choices and make positive changes. His optimism is contagious as he empowers people to dream bigger than they’ve ever dreamed before.
With an engaging, dynamic delivery that captivates audiences, Marc reaches people at a “heart level.” His celebrity sports status and intriguing life story make Marc Mero especially valuable for church outreaches, rallies or special services. Churches all over the country who have hosted Marc have seen record attendance at their events.
As the author of “How to be the Happiest Person on the Planet,” Marc Mero shares the secret to true happiness – which he preaches, “only comes from a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.”
Marc is the founder of Champion of Choices, Inc., a nonprofit organization that empowers people to make positive choices. Founded in 2007, Marc has presented his compelling “Choices” production at more than 300 schools, corporations, and churches around the globe.
Marc’s God-given talent and entertainment background make him an exceptional choice for the often hard-to-reach youth audience; yet people of all ages and walks of life clearly connect with his message and engaging personality.
Marc’s story of tragedy and triumph is shared through an interactive, multimedia presentation supported by visuals, video and music. Listeners laugh and cry as they experience the “rollercoaster of life” and are prompted to examine their own life choices. “Who you associate with does make a difference,” Marc admits. “Your friends are like elevators; they either take you up, or they take you down.”
People’s lives are changed as they realize their own unique value and the importance of how they treat others. They see the adversity Marc endured and marvel at the joy he exudes. “God has a purpose for each of us; no matter how much adversity you go through or what your situation, you can choose your attitude. For greater is He that is in us, than he that is in the world!” (1st John 4:4)
Marc’ story of transformation has been featured in Christian and secular high-profile media, including Glenn Beck, CNN’s Nancy Grace, Montel Williams, MSNBC, TBN’s Joy in our Town, and The Good Life.

"As a pastor, one of the greatest joys is seeing people come to Christ; for Salvation, for healing, for hope, for comfort, for freedom…and our altars reflected God’s presence and moving in our service through your words. If anyone needs a testimony of the impact of your message, just call me. By far, this was the most effective Outreach Service our church has had this year! The results were overwhelming." - Jim Page, Lead Pastor, Apopka Calvary Nazarene, Apopka, FL
"I wasn't planning on attending church today. My son Ralph asked me if I would come because there was going to be a wrestler there. I didn't know what to think about that but he asked and I decided I would go cause of good quality time we could spend together. Marc, you came on and gave such a powerful devotion of your life and your surroundings. All I could do was sit there and hold my son. I have never witnessed such an inspiring message from the most unlikely person I would probably meet." - J. Patterson, Alvin, TX
What profits a man if he gains the whole world but loses his soul? Matthew 16:26
As a famous sports celebrity, I lived a lifestyle most people only dream of – a lifestyle I imagined since I was a young boy. Born in Buffalo, New York, my parents divorced when I was eight years old. My mother supported my two siblings and me by working two jobs, and we struggled to get by. I hated living this way and decided to “dream big” – writing down my goals in a journal. I soon found success in sports and became a football and hockey all-star. I was also a four-time New York State Boxing Champ. But it was professional wrestling where I would fulfill those boyhood dreams of being rich and famous.
I traveled the world, became a millionaire, and hung out with celebrities. People would say, “Marc, you made it!” But inside I was empty and tried to fill the void with drugs and alcohol. After losing more than 30 of my friends – largely due to their bad choices – my life continued to unravel. My wife of ten years walked out the door… my heart was crushed and my finances dwindled. I didn’t think my life could get any worse, but it did.
I continued to suffer tremendous loss, including the deaths of my little sister and brother – who both died at age 21 – and my mother and father who left this earth way too early. On Christmas Day 2003, I was alone at the pier at Cocoa Beach, Florida, with nowhere to go and no one to call. I watched the waves roll in and roll out. I contemplated the end of my life. If it weren’t for divine intervention I wouldn’t be here.
Surrendering my will and rededicating my heart to Jesus Christ eight years ago set me on a path to be used by God in an amazing way. God took my “mess” and turned it into my message. The Lord has since led me to share my personal story of tragedy and triumph with more than 300 churches, schools, and organizations throughout the world.
My life is a miracle! But miracles don't come without trials or tribulations. Because of the sacrifice Jesus made on The Cross, my chains are broken. I've been set free. You can be set free too! No matter what adversity you are going through – whether it's isolation, loneliness, depression, financial heartache, substance abuse, alcoholism or broken relationships – you are this close to your miracle. Don't give up! “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” (Jeremiah 29:11)
